We were approached to help a client who wanted to improve their online sales and to develop a wider market for her home decor and accessories product.
Up until that point they had mainly used Ebay marketplace to sell the product but felt that the platform has limitations and they didn’t have as much control as they would have liked and thought it would be best to own their own platform.
This reason was also why the client preferred WordPress as a pose to Shopify as they felt that they would be stuck with another platform which can get very expensive as you go up the levels and add different features.
The brief was pretty straightforward in that the client wanted to transition from eBay to a platform where they had more control, but it needed to be easy to use in terms of adding and editing products.
There was also a requirement to have provision for a data feed too as they have some suppliers who offer product feeds.
One of the key things the client insisted on is the email system which is part of their plan to build up the subscriber base and to use regular promotions to increase sales and use it to nurture new subscribers.
