Most audits tell you what is wrong. Fewer tell you which problems matter commercially, what should be fixed first or who needs to do the work.
We assess how your business appears across Google and AI-assisted search, then turn the evidence into a prioritised action plan. You get the findings, the reasoning behind them and a clear route from diagnosis to implementation.
What is limiting your visibility?
A fall in enquiries rarely has one neat cause. Search engines may struggle to crawl important pages. Several pages may compete for the same search intent. Competitors may have stronger content, clearer expertise or better authority signals. Your brand may rank in Google but rarely appear when buyers use AI tools to research suppliers.
An audit should separate those possibilities. It should also distinguish a serious commercial constraint from an item that happens to trigger a warning in a tool.
We examine four connected areas:
- Technical foundations: crawling, indexation, canonicals, redirects, site architecture, performance and structured data.
- Search demand and content: which questions and buying searches matter, whether the right page answers each one, and where pages overlap or leave gaps.
- Authority and trust: links, citations, reviews, authorship, company information and the evidence that supports your claims.
- AI-assisted discovery: whether AI search systems can find, understand and confidently describe the business across a controlled set of relevant prompts.
The goal is not another score. It is knowing what to do next.
Choose the right audit
SEO audit
Choose an SEO audit when the main concern is rankings, organic traffic, enquiries or unexplained performance changes.
We assess technical SEO, indexation, keyword and page alignment, content quality, internal links, competitor visibility and conversion paths. The result is a prioritised plan for improving conventional organic search performance.
AI visibility audit
Choose an AI visibility audit when you want to understand how the business is represented in AI-generated answers and what evidence those systems can find.
We test a defined set of commercially relevant questions, record whether and how the brand appears, examine cited sources and assess entity clarity across the website and important third-party references.
This is a measured snapshot, not a visibility guarantee. Results can change by platform, model, location, prompt wording and date.
Combined SEO and AI visibility audit
Choose the combined audit when the problem crosses both areas, or when you do not yet know where the constraint sits.
The combined review connects technical search performance, content coverage, authority, entity signals and observed AI answers in one plan. It prevents separate recommendations from competing for the same budget or development time.
If you are unsure, start with the commercial problem. We will tell you whether the combined scope is justified before the work begins.
What you receive
Every audit is scoped around the decisions you need to make. The final package normally includes:
- an executive summary written for the decision-maker;
- a record of the evidence and data sources used;
- findings grouped by technical, content, authority and AI visibility themes;
- a priority matrix based on commercial importance, effort and dependency;
- a practical 90-day action plan;
- a working session to explain the findings and answer questions;
- clear ownership recommendations for your team, developer or BlackandWhiteBoy;
- implementation options where you want help completing the work.
You will not receive 150 pages of warnings with no view on consequence. A technically correct finding that does not change a decision should not dominate the report.
The evidence we use
The exact sources depend on the scope and the access available. They can include:
- Google Search Console for queries, pages, clicks, impressions and indexation evidence;
- Google Analytics for landing-page behaviour and conversion context;
- technical crawling and direct HTML checks;
- DataForSEO for search demand, current rankings, competitor results and backlink evidence;
- page-level content and internal-link analysis;
- direct tests across selected AI-assisted search systems;
- public company, review, citation and publisher sources where they affect trust or entity clarity.
No single platform tells the whole story. We record where the evidence came from, what period it covers and where it is incomplete.
How we prioritise the findings
The longest issue list is not automatically the best audit.
We rank actions by asking:
- Does this affect a service, product or location that can generate meaningful business?
- Is there evidence that search engines or users are encountering the problem now?
- What depends on this being fixed first?
- Can the change be completed reliably with the people and systems available?
- How will we verify that the work was implemented correctly?
That process often reduces a large technical list to a smaller sequence of changes that can actually be completed.
A real example from our own website
We recently reviewed 22 URLs on BlackandWhiteBoy while planning a new service-hub structure.
Eight old URLs already redirected correctly at a technical level. The problem was their destination. Four agency and company-intent URLs pointed to a page positioned around an individual SEO consultant. Search Console showed that two of those old URLs had generated almost 29,000 impressions during the evidence period, while current ranking data still associated one of them with Newcastle agency searches.
The practical recommendation was not to create more competing pages. We retained the established service URL, changed four redirect destinations, corrected six stored internal links and removed three superseded records from related-content listings.
That is the difference between reporting that a redirect exists and deciding whether it supports the right commercial page.
Our audit process
1. Scope
We agree the commercial questions, affected services, market, website properties and decisions the audit needs to support.
2. Access and baseline
We confirm the available data, record the measurement period and identify important gaps before drawing conclusions.
3. Analysis
We examine technical foundations, search demand, page roles, competitors, authority signals and the agreed AI visibility questions.
4. Validation
Important findings are checked against direct evidence. Automated warnings are not treated as conclusions on their own.
5. Priorities and handover
We present the findings in decision order, agree ownership and explain how each completed action should be checked.
The scope, timescale and fee are confirmed in writing before access is provided. The cost depends on the size and complexity of the website, the markets covered, the evidence available and whether the work includes SEO, AI visibility or both.
What an AI visibility audit can and cannot tell you
An AI visibility audit can show how a defined set of questions is answered at a recorded point in time. It can identify which sources are being cited, whether the business is described accurately and which entity or evidence gaps may be limiting inclusion.
It cannot prove that every user will receive the same answer. AI results can vary by platform, model, account, location, prompt and date. There is no single, complete measure of visibility across every AI system.
We make those limits part of the report. The sensible outcome is a repeatable baseline and a set of improvements that also make the business clearer and more credible to human buyers and conventional search engines.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an SEO or AI visibility audit cost?
Every audit is scoped around the commercial question it needs to answer. The fee depends on the size and complexity of the website, the number of markets or locations, the evidence available and whether the work covers SEO, AI visibility or both. We confirm the scope and fee before starting, with no open-ended commitment.
How long does an audit take?
Timescale depends on the scope and how quickly access can be provided. We agree the delivery date before starting rather than promising a standard turnaround that may not suit the site.
What access will you need?
Most SEO audits benefit from Google Search Console and analytics access. Technical access may also be useful when a problem needs to be verified in WordPress, the server configuration or a tag-management system. We request only the access needed for the agreed scope.
Can you implement the recommendations?
Yes. We can complete agreed SEO and content changes, work with your developer or provide oversight for an internal team. Implementation is quoted separately so the audit remains clear about the diagnosis and priorities.
Can you guarantee that our business will appear in AI answers?
No. AI answers are generated dynamically and can vary between systems and users. We can improve entity clarity, content, evidence and source coverage, then measure a defined set of prompts over time. We will not guarantee inclusion.
Is an AI visibility audit separate from SEO?
It can be bought separately, but the two areas overlap. A technically inaccessible page, unclear service structure or weak supporting evidence can affect both conventional search and AI-assisted discovery. The combined audit is useful when changes need to be prioritised across the same website and budget.
